And while it&#8217;s clear they like to customize their workspaces and that they aren&#8217;t penny-pinching when it comes to their Starbucks lattes, Millennials would prefer purpose-driven work to surface-level perks.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/0707-whole-.png\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3495\" src=\"https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/0707-whole--410x1024.png\" alt=\"07:07 whole\" width=\"410\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/0707-whole--410x1024.png 410w, https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/0707-whole--120x300.png 120w, https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/0707-whole--768x1920.png 768w, https:\/\/genhq.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/0707-whole-.png 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A recent <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/3061441\/the-future-of-work\/millennials-arent-more-motivated-by-purpose-than-the-rest-of-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FastCompany article citing The Center for Generational Kinetics<\/a><\/span> emphasized that, while Millennials certainly bring some challenges and changes to the modern workplace, they are not unique in seeking out work that inspires, rather than just &#8220;satisfies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In fact, according to leadership consultant and clinical psychologist Dr. Constance Dierickx, &#8220;What we\u2019re seeing now may be a natural sort of pendulum-swing from, \u2018Everybody wants to become an investment banker\u2019 to \u2018I want to do good in the world&#8217;.&#8221; She adds, &#8220;\u2018Purpose\u2019 has become a euphemism for [the latter], but <em>your<\/em> purpose can be anything.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Millennials, much like employees of all generations, want to feel appreciated and challenged at work, and simply providing &#8220;ping-pong tables and espresso machines&#8221; won&#8217;t do much\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/whats-splitting-the-millennial-generation-in-two\/\" rel=\"noopener\">if they&#8217;re already disengaged<\/a><\/span> at work, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/hrdisciplines\/staffingmanagement\/articles\/pages\/jim-clifton-gallup-millennials-shrm-conference.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to The Society for Human Resource Management<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What gives you a sense of purpose at work?
