According to a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2018\/06\/17\/why-youll-love-having-gen-zers-in-the-workplace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent New York Post article<\/a><\/span>, this generation prefers to text, often with abbreviations and emojis.<\/p>\n<p>This may seem too informal, but the reason behind it is that Gen Z prefers to get right to the point. They don\u2019t care for pretense or tradition\u2014they want to be effective and brief in their communication.<\/p>\n<h4>Staying Home is the New Going to Work<\/h4>\n<p>To Gen Z, \u201cwork is not a place you go to, it is something that you do when you are with your technology,\u201d according to <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2018\/06\/17\/why-youll-love-having-gen-zers-in-the-workplace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tauseef Rahman<\/a><\/span>, a principal at Mercer, a global human resources consultancy.<\/p>\n<p>For employers, this means \u2018work from home\u2019 or \u2018telecommute\u2019 days should be a given, not an extra perk. But that doesn\u2019t mean you don\u2019t have to worry about your office setting.<\/p>\n<p>Gen Z will still appreciate a \u201ccool\u201d office space, but they\u2019re not looking for ping-pong tables or dog-friendly workspaces. They\u2019d rather have ample, light-filled spaces, and sit-stand desks. With Gen Z, small gestures, like a standing desk, can go a long way.<\/p>\n<h4>Gen Z is Very Feedback-Driven<\/h4>\n<p>In The Center for Generational Kinetics\u2019 <a href=\"\/gen-z-2017\/download-gen-z-white-paper\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">State of Gen Z <sup>\u00ae<\/sup> study<\/span><\/a>, we discovered that 60% of Gen Z workers want <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/how-to-easily-engage-gen-z-employees-in-the-workplace\/\" rel=\"noopener\">multiple check-ins<\/a><\/span> from their managers during the week. In fact, of those, 40% want an interaction with their boss\u00a0daily or several times each day.<\/p>\n<p>According to the NY Post, since the unemployment rate is so low, this generation has the upper hand in the employee-employer relationship.
