Whether it\u2019s due to financial instability, unexpected medical expenses, restlessness, or the desire to leave behind a legacy, many Baby Boomers are finding work after retiring from their main careers.<\/p>\n<p>But Baby Boomers aren\u2019t just finding any old retail job \u2013 they are becoming \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/allbusiness\/2015\/06\/02\/how-entrepreneurial-baby-boomers-are-rethinking-retirement\/#2fb120a210b0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">retire-preneurs<\/a>,\u201d people using their would-be retirement as a chance to be their own boss.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/brianscudamore\/2018\/01\/05\/why-baby-boomers-are-ditching-retirement-to-launch-their-own-businesses\/#69891e314c07\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent Forbes article<\/a>,<\/span> today, three quarters of entrepreneurs are <a href=\"\/gen-x-may-unprepared-take-caregiver-role-aging-parents\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gen X<\/span><\/a> or older, with 70% of soon-to-be retirees saying they want to keep working. Boomers are now more likely to start businesses <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/bridging-the-generational-marketing-divide-millennials-vs-boomers\/\" rel=\"noopener\">than their Millennial<\/a> <\/span>counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>Why go through all the work to start your own company so late in life?<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Many Baby Boomers have the drive to keep going and build something of their own, and they finally feel <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/baby-boomers-break-bank-holiday-shopping\/\" rel=\"noopener\">stable enough financially<\/a> <\/span>to do so.<\/li>\n<li>Starting your own business allows for a flexible schedule, instead of having to report to a 9-5 job,\u00a0<a href=\"\/kraft-heinzs-new-cfo-29-years-old-millennial\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">usually with a younger boss<\/span><\/a> at the helm.<\/li>\n<li>They\u2019re able to contribute to the economy with their years of knowledge in a particular field and are able to influence the next generation. According to Forbes, these second careers are an opportunity for Baby Boomers to advise and coach business leaders of tomorrow.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It\u2019s too soon to tell now, but it will certainly be interesting to see if Gen X keeps up the retire-preneur trend when they enter their retirement years.<\/p>\n<p><em>Do have a generational challenge with sales, marketing, strategy, or employment that you want solved?
